Metallic Pins

Audio Upload:

While attempting to figure out what we wanted to create for this assignment we were struck by a piece in which the artist used only pins. The piece was simply created by compressing a large amount of pins together which allowed them too intertwine and hold the cubic shape. This piece struck us due to the fact which nails are usually used to hold objects together or hang them up. Although that was not the case when it came to this piece.

The Cold Ending

Audio Upload:

This piece is based off the exhibit in the permanent collection called "The Russian Endings". The exhibit had postcards depicting sorrowful images such as funerals, death, and explosions. This was meant to show how the endings of movies that were given to Russia tended to be sad whereas the America would get the happy endings.

Surrounding

Audio Upload:

Our project was inspired by these two chairs. We thought to ourselves that although beautiful, these chairs are just regular eclectic gatherings that you’d see in a dining room or kitchen, so we decided to approach that idea. We imagined one of the chairs, in a kitchen, on a Saturday morning, and fabricated the noises the chair would witness in this specific homely surrounding. In short, we made an audio project from the point of view of the chair. We collected many different sounds that we envisioned in a home, or around a home.
