Digital Storytelling - February Vacation

February Vacation Week

Learn to tell your story or the stories of other people using digital media. Record teh audio of these stories and combine it with photographs to create a richer experience for your viewers!

Goals:
● Familiarize students with ICA Galleries and building, with a focus on graphic design and digital imaging
● Expose students to work by a range of designers

Full scholarships available for Boston Public School students.

Interactive Video Game Design for Mobile Devices

This 4-day intensive workshop puts you on a creative team that will design and deploy an interactive game experience. Using the ICA building and exhibitions as the playing field, you will design an adventure that users will be able to download to their smartphones and tablets to play while they visit the ICA. How will you guide them from level to level? What is the ultimate goal? Come be part of this exciting workshop this summer!

Digital Audio Design - Audio Tour Remix - Summer 2012

Do you have an opinion about art that everyone should hear? Are you willing share your unique perspective with others? Audio Tour [Remix] is the chance to do both. Join the Institute of Contemporary Art in a workshop that celebrates your creative take on art, and the world as you see it. Over two sessions, you will work with artists and educators to write and record insightful descriptions and critiques of select gallery pieces. The audio tours created in this workshop will then be made available for future museum visitors!

Furniture Design

Take inspiration from artwork in the galleries and use technology and basic building techniques to create your own experimental furniture designs.

Digital Collage and Photoshop - for Jack and Jill Organization

Students will work with gathered images from their lives to make digital collages using Photoshop. Each student will have the opportunity to print their final work. We will also look at and discuss the photography work on display at the ICA. This workshop is designed for beginning level Photoshop students.

1 session; Saturday, Jan 21, 2012; 1–5 pm
Fee: $40 per student.
An ICA representative will contact enrollees to process payment.

Open to families of Jack and Jill organization.

Digital Photography - Beginner

Using digital SLR cameras learn advanced camera techniques and how to process RAW image files for manipulating and editing in Photoshop. As a class, look at and discuss the work currently on view—and shoot outdoors (weather permitting) around the ICA waterfront. Each student will create and print several images. No experience with digital SLR cameras is required. No equipment is necessary; however, students with DSLR cameras are encouraged to bring them.

Video Game Design - Spring 2012

DJ School 101Art design, story-telling, animation, creative computing, and simple physics are all part of the video game design process. In this workshop you will dig into each of these components while developing your own video game using Game Maker software. At the end you will have a 2-D game playable on a mac or a PC, and the start of your own graphic effects and video game behaviors libraries.
